'A Christmas Carol' starter activities
A series of 20 short starters for A Christmas Carol, including paired, group and individual activities. Some could be extended as more detailed activities on the text.
The tasks could be used at various stages of teaching the text: some are introductory and require little knowledge of the text, such as listing prior knowledge of Victorian times or Christmas traditions, while others are more reflective and based on a full understanding of the novel, such as using quotations or responding to critical opinion.

I used this collection of activities during the teaching of my Year 10 mixed ability class. Some of the quicker activities are good for starters, others could be used as more extended lesson or homework activities.
