Christmas poems
A lovely 'one off' or end of term Christmas lesson for KS3 students.
This lesson resource includes a detailed set of teaching notes, with simple, exemplar Christmas poems to share with students and a word bank of Christmassy words and rhymes to get them started with writing.
Students then work on rhyme and rhythm to create their own Christmas or winter-themed poem.
There are also festive templates for students to cut out, decorate and write their poems on, so you'll have an appealing Christmas-themed classroom display at the end of the lesson as well!

Rhyming words
Now elicit Christmas and winter words. For each word, brainstorm other words that may be used to rhyme with it. Students may need help at first, but once they get into the activity they’ll come up with good ideas. If you need some inspiration, here are some to get you going:
