Approaching GCSE revision through innovative and appealing revision activities, this set of revision resources empowers students to tackle revision in a fun way while ensuring learning is consolidated.

A selection of eight tried and tested games to help students revise any topic or text in an engaging way, complete with templates where appropriate.

This creative resource includes instructions for each of the games and some ideas for how you might use the games for students' revision for assessments or exams.

These revision games can be used for any exam board, including AQA. In fact, due to their fun functionality, they can be included in lessons for any age group from KS2-KS5.

Students who are familiar with any game show, board game or other group game, such as Pictionary or Blockbusters, will be able to quickly adapt to all of the revision games. Even without prior knowledge, students can easily access each of the activities.

Helpful for improving study skills, adding fun into revision sessions and support for the creation of revision notes.

Choose from a pub quiz, pass the parcel, taboo, fishing, pairs, dominoes, a treasure hunt or ask the answer. You could even let students decide which they'd like to make, and compile a whole class set of revision games on any given topic.

A sample extract from the resource:

Choose one or more of the following games to play in the class, or better still, get students involved in choosing a different revision game every lesson in the run-up to an exam:

  • A pub quiz

Put students into groups, and give each group a topic, a key term, a key text, a character, or a setting, etc.  They should write 10 questions relating to their topic.  Collect all the sets of questions from each group, and you instantly have a pub quiz with several different rounds!  Soft drinks and crisps optional.

 

N.B. Each group should take it in turns to be quiz master, reading their own questions (they will effectively sit out this round of questions).

I used the cards and fishing as a vocabulary revision. A lot of fun and laughter in the classes - and my students are 16 years old boys. :)
