An introduction to written language acquisition

In this helpful introduction to children's written language development, students consider what writing is for, before reflecting on and discussing their own experiences of writing in pairs. They then look at two real examples of children's writing and annotate the texts. The first two activities are differentiated, and the tasks become progressively more challenging, culminating in an exam-style task.
