The Into Film Festival is coming up soon (4-21 November) and includes free trips to the cinema and a range of film screenings as well as film-making opportunities. Films and resources appropriate to the English curriculum include: Much Ado About Nothing, Captain America, The Amazing Spider Man 2, Private Peaceful, Touching the Void and many more.

Teaching ideas:

  • Visit the site to organise a trip to the cinema or to bring one of the films to your classroom.

  • Combine a film viewing with a class reader or to encourage wider reading. As an example, the extensive resource collection for Private Peaceful explores characterisation, genre, the narrative and aspects of its representation on the screen.  Activities include storyboards, discussion tasks and text analysis comparative tasks.

  • Give your students an opportunity to try out their film-making skills in your classroom, or as an extra-curricular activity.
