Use this video from The Guardian to support a research task on recycling or a video making activity.

Teaching ideas

  • After watching, discuss how students get rid of their rubbish. Do they recycle? Do they have any systems set up at home? Could they do more to recycle?
  • Set them a research project exploring a particular aspect of recycling. They could focus on their school's recycling policy and look at the 'journey' the recycling goes on – what eventually happens to the plastic and card that's taken away to be recycled?
  • In groups they could make their own short video encouraging people to recycle. They could plan their video first using Teachit's Storyboards resource and then (if you have the equipment available) film it and show it to the rest of the class.
