Use the following photos to explore how children live around the world.

  • Ask your students to draw their bedroom and label the drawing, paying particular attention to the bits that ‘represent’ them – this could be a picture on the wall, or what colour the room is painted.

  • Show your students the pictures of bedrooms around the world and have a general discussion. Are they shocked? What do they think the different bedrooms tell us about the children that live in them?

  • Get students to choose one of the children and imagine they become them for a day. Write a short narrative piece in the style of ‘a day in the life’. They should include some information about the child’s home and school life – as they imagine it might be!
