Socratic discussion
Sharpen your students' thinking skills with a Socratic discussion activity based on any text or topic.
The whole class is involved in this discussion: one group of speakers form in the middle of the room and debate the topic or text, as provided by the teacher, and the remainder of the class are listeners who use the role cards provided to give feedback to the speakers.
The sample questions included for the speakers in this resource are based on the play Hope Springs by Richard Conlon, but using Bloom's Taxonomy, you can adapt this inclusive teaching approach for any text or topic.
