Taking Flight

I'm not sure either. I'll let it settle.

You don’t have  to be
Anyone’s creation
An emanation
Of their imagination
Look Listen Hear me
I will set you free
But only if you want to fly.

You said
You would show me the way
Show me the door
I don't know
I'm not sure
Just not sure

You don't have to be
A prisoner
Listen
You can fly
I will set you free
But only if you believe
Your wings are strong enough
You need to know
You don't need me.

Watch me
I am leaving
I am casting myself on the air
I am falling, flailing, failing
I am finding my wings
I am not falling
I am flying
Away

Watch me

I am leaving

I am casting myself on the air

I am falling, flailing, failing

I am finding my wings

I am not falling

I am flying

Away

(I finally came to a decision. There needs to be a response. This is it.  Now I wonder if there should be a response between the first 2 verses.)

So, tidied up a bit - does it need more?

You don’t have  to be
Anyone’s creation
An emanation
Of their imagination
Look Listen Hear me
I will set you free
But only if you want to fly.

You don't have to be
A prisoner
Listen
You can fly
I will set you free
But only if you believe
Your wings are strong enough
You need to know
You don't need me.

Not sure about ‘any more’.   And in the first verse, maybe ‘I will set you free’ would be better than ‘I can’.

You don’t need me / To be

To be what?  The ending is too abrupt.  To be what you want to be (?)  To become what you want to be (?)

Some jottings...

You don’t have / need to be

Someone’s / anyone’s creation

An emanation

Of their desires / imagination

Look Listen Hear me

I can set you free

But only if you want to fly.

You don't have to be

A prisoner

Listen

You can fly

I will set you free

But only if you believe

Your wings are strong enough

You need to know

You don't need me

Any more

A sound or a sight can often trigger a memory or provide food for thought or food for writing. Visiting Bodnant Gardens in N Wales we were struck by a willow sculpture and I jotted down some words which I feel could be developed into something longer.

We'll see.
