World Book Day activities
This fun set of bookish games is perfect for year 7-8 students to celebrate World Book Day.
It includes three rounds: a quick quiz on favourite children's books, a picture clue round where students have to guess the titles of books from cryptic images, and a story writing round where students choose a well-known character and put them into a different setting and write from the character's perspective. When they have finished their story, they write the blurb for their new book and design the front cover.
Includes answers!
An example task from the classroom worksheet:
Choose a well-known character and put them into a different setting, e.g. imagine Harry Potter in the Hunger Games.
Write from that character’s perspective in their new setting. Describe what they can see, how they feel and what happens. ‘As I stood on the metal platform and looked around at my new surroundings, I wasn't sure even magic could save me now.....’
When you have written your story, write the blurb for your new book and design the front cover.
