This is a great exercise that all students enjoy and I would probably do something like this for every text studied.

This was a worksheet prepared for a cover lesson.

It is better to get your students to write their own. I remind them that diaries are generally secret documents - designed to be read by only the writer where they can write things that they may not always say - and comment on situations in ways that their families and friends may not appreciate!
