  • mnemonics

  • breaking the word into syllables
  • learning spelling rules
  • using roots words, prefixes and suffixes to make sense of the word etc.

There are also 10 spelling activities for students to practise their spelling. 

An example tip from the resource: 

Find words within words.

  • measurement – You should be sure of your measurements before you start work.
  • secretary – A secretary must keep a secret.
  • special – The CIA have special agents.
  • business – There’s a bus in business.
