Re-creative task for Chapter 5 'Into the Wild' by Jon Krakauer

Designed for students studying Into the Wild for AQA A2 English Language and Literature. This re-creative task focuses on Chapter 5 of the text and asks students to recast the section into a conversation that Bob has with Tracy.

Sample content

In your recast you should:
  • Establish the scene and timeframe of the conversation (refer to the base text for accuracy).
  • Develop the characters of the Bob and Tracy (you should take your starting point from the base text and develop their personalities as you imagine them).
  • Provide Bob’s comments on Alex’s relationship with Jan and why he thinks Chris flirting with Jan is entirely innocent.
  • Give Tracy’s explanation of why she is attracted to Alex. What does she believe that he offers her that life at the Slabs with her parents doesn’t?
