World Book Day resources

Celebrate World Book Day and the joys of reading for pleasure with an eclectic range of fun ideas and classroom resources in our World Book Day collection.

To help to make WBD special on Thursday 2 March 2023 – and to encourage reading for pleasure for the rest of the year too – try our lesson worksheets, book review templates and children’s book quizzes to inspire a love of books.

You’ll also find group tasks and whole-school ideas to celebrate the work of a range of authors (not just Harry Potter!), as well as reading challenges to inspire young people to pick up a good book and share their favourite books with others, whether that’s a work of fiction, non-fiction or a graphic novel.

World Book Day is also a celebration of authors and illustrators, so try our creative writing activities to encourage students’ own writing experiments, or experiment with a Big Draw in communal areas. Go supersized with display ideas, or try our fun suggestions to inspire young readers, like pop-up reading cafes, bookish cake competitions and little free libraries.

With a toolkit of ideas and suggestions to dip into, you’ll even find resources to help students to judge a book by its cover!
