This resource includes three texts about tigers, including a piece of 19th-century non-fiction, a 19th-century fiction extract and an 18th-century poem. The texts are taken from:

  • My struggle with a Tiger by Charles Jamrach
  • The Tyger by William Blake
  • The Brazilian Cat by Arthur Conan Doyle

The tasks are varied and include making comparisons using a Venn diagram template, close analysis of an extract, a comparison of the writers' viewpoints, a personal response to the texts, and a creative writing exercise.

There are also teacher notes with other lesson/homework ideas.

Fab resource, thank you!
( slightly confused by those requesting answer sheets!)

The material is great. It would be great to have an answer sheet to be sure that our own answers are right.

I am going to use this as a reading intervention to challenge my Y9 students. It is so varied and fasinating, we will be able to study language technique, poetry, historical setting, attitudes to animals in the past, animal rights, facs and opinions, paragraphing etc.
Really pleased I found this gem!
